What is NEBOSH & IOSH ?

WHAT IS NEBOSH?

 

NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a United Kingdom based independent examination board. It is internationally recognized as the “ benchmark” in HSE training. NEBOSH is an independent awards body highly respected by industry. NEBOSH does not deliver courses. It develops syllabuses for its qualifications and sets methods of assessment, such as examinations and practical coursework.

NEBOSH examinations and assessments are set by its professionally qualified staff assisted by external examiners; most of whom are Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners. NEBOSH qualifications are recognized by the relevant professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

 

 

WHAT IS IOSH ?

IOSH stands for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. Based in the UK, but with members around the globe, it’s a not-for-profit organisation.

It is also the Chartered body for health and safety professionals; aiming to raise standards and regulate the profession. Its work includes developing and promoting a code of conduct, as well as developing and accrediting safety training courses.

The six IOSH membership categories are:

  • Chartered Fellow

The relationship between NEBOSH training courses, and IOSH Membership categories :

The successful NEBOSH candidates can apply to use letters such as TechIOSH, GradIOSH, CMIOSH, and MIIRSM after their name.
